HG Wells Hike

As we are now allowed in person events again, the below hike has been organised in Woking. The hike leader(s) have asked me to inform IN members "Please only sign up if you are 100% coming"
After passing HG Wells' house, we go into woodlands and visit a Second World War memorial, zig zagging our way through more woodland, we visit the "Sand Pit" where the martians landed in the "War of the Worlds"
We then go past the Inn where Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde stayed (In the Novel: "In The League of extraordinary gentleman"), visit an idyllic lake, walk through an airport and then make our way back to Woking along the river towards the martian statue and then to the station.
HIGHLIGHTS
Idyllic woodlands, Lakes and Streams
Airport, War memorial & Wetlands Centre
Distance: 18 km (11.2 miles)
Terrain: Mainly flat, very few ascents. Lots of dense woodland
Lunch: Bring a packed lunch and plenty of water
Pace: Medium (parts of the walk go through dense woodland, where we'll need to stick together, it's not advisable to go ahead of the group as you will get lost, it's a very interesting hike, but logistically complicated)
Meeting time: 10.15 am (We will meet just outside the station at this time)
Departure time: 10.30 am (We will leave for the walk at this time)
The hike will need to start on time as it gets dark early and we won't be able to wait for late comers
