Hope on the Road - Daniel Hope in Search of the Irish Soul

On the 17th of March it's St Patrick's day, the day of the patron saint of Ireland.
So that's an occasion for a musical trip to Ireland.
At the wheel of an old Morris Traveller, Daniel Hope travels through Ireland in search of the Irish soul through its music. Born in Protected content South Africa and now settled in Germany, the British violinist has Irish ancestors and feels the Emerald Isle to be a homeland where he has never lived.
In medieval Kilkenny he meets Siobhan Armstrong with her Celtic harp, symbol of irish culture. In Galway fiddler Sean Smyth, a member of the group Lunasa, introduces him to Irish folk music. And in Dublin the National Symphony Orchestra invite him to perform at the National Concert Hall a work by Ina Boyle, an early twentieth century Irish composer that is enjoying a revival.
After watching the documentary, (duration 53 minutes) we are going to discuss about it.
