Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninoff Live Piano Event by A Virtuozo
Rachmaninoff is widely considered one of the world’s most misunderstood composer and one of the finest pianists of his day.As a composer, he was one of the last great representatives of Romanticism in Russian classical music.
Early influences of Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, and other Russian composers gave way to a thoroughly personal idiom notable for its song-like melodicism, expressiveness, dense contrapuntal textures, and rich orchestral colours. The piano is featured prominently in Rachmaninoff's compositional output and he used his skills as a performer to fully explore the expressive and technical possibilities of the instrument.
Our guest concert pianist Daniel Roberts after graduating with a B.A. Honours Degree in Performance from Leeds College of music, having studied with Helen Reid, Natalia Strelchenko, and continuing lessons with Peter Feuchtwanger has performed around the UK Europe, and Brazil.
He has performed for the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe in the famous London church, St James Piccadilly, Leeds Town Hall, and also has performed with Duo partner Hannah Woolmer at London’s Foundling museum, Southwark Cathedral, and The Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.
Daniel will perform for us from Brazil.
