Being an Immigrant

Are you living in a country different from where you were born? Have you ever wondered if you fully belong in your new society? Do you feel embraced, valued, or still treated as ‘the other’?
In this online meetup, we invite immigrants, expatriates, and anyone with an interest in cultural identity to join an open conversation on what it truly means to start a new life in another country. Whether you're from Spain and living in the UK (like me), or from anywhere else in the world, this space is for you to reflect, share, and explore your experience of immigration—without judgment, pressure, or labels.
Immigration is not just about crossing borders—it’s about navigating identity, expectations, values, and often, invisible contracts. A recent protest in Los Angeles, sparked by decisions affecting immigrant rights and protections, reminds us that migration continues to ignite passionate debate, both politically and personally.
Rather than getting lost in noise or blame, this meetup aims to foster understanding through discussion.
Do you feel happy in your new country? What makes you feel at home?
Do you believe immigrants should fully adopt the local culture, or is there room for dual identities?
Have you ever felt pressured to give up part of your identity to be accepted?
Do you feel your host country values your contributions, or tolerates you conditionally?
I hope to see all your opinions and experiences.
