Storytelling through Music – an Interactive Discussion
How often do we pay attention to storytelling delivered musically?
Every song we listen to delivers a message – a story. Musicals are perpetually popular. And opera has been a classic over the ages.
Today we’ll investigate all the ways we use music to enhance the stories we tell. Join us in exploring questions such as:
•What sorts of musical storytelling do you enjoy / consume?
•How does music impact how we tell and how we hear (experience) stories?
•What are your thoughts on storytelling via lyrics vs prose? How does poetry fit in here?
•How does a musical context change how stories are told?
•Are some kinds of stories a better fit for being told with music?
