Vernissage on August 3, Protected content , at 6 PM
with Klaus Estermann (poet and singer)

30 artists from the Netherlands and Germany will showcase works on the theme of light.

The exhibition Lumen brings together 30 diverse artistic voices from the Netherlands and Germany. The artistic positions present an extraordinarily varied spectrum of different media and perspectives in painting, photography, site-specific installations, video works, and performances. Lumen derives from Latin and means "light" or "opening."

At the heart of the exhibition is the theme of light in all its manifestations: as sunlight or artificial light, technological innovation, or atmospheric moment. Light creates presence, casts shadows, and highlights. It is both material and bearer of meaning – sensual, poetic, experimental, or speculative.
The theme of the exhibition is particularly connected to the exhibition venue, Schloss Biesdorf: The late classical villa in East Berlin was once the summer residence of Werner Siemens, one of the key pioneers of electrification in the 19th century. In the spirit of technical innovation and social transformation, Lumen invites us to understand light as a cultural, physical, and aesthetic force. The architecture of the house, surrounded by a listed park, creates a resonance space where past and present, nature and technology enter into dialogue.

We meet at 6 PM there
