Rigoletto at Opéra De Lausanne
Join us for a memorable afternoon at the Opéra de Lausanne with Rigoletto, one of Giuseppe Verdi’s most powerful and moving masterpieces. A perfect blend of drama, passion, and unforgettable music awaits in this iconic opera.
Premiered in Venice in Protected content , Rigoletto was an immediate success and marks the beginning of Verdi’s celebrated “middle-period trilogy.” Inspired by Victor Hugo’s play Le Roi s’amuse, the opera explores deep psychological contrasts through the tragic figure of Rigoletto—both a cynical court jester and a devoted, overprotective father.
Driven by themes of love, betrayal, and curse, the story reaches intense emotional heights, enhanced by unforgettable music, including the famous aria “La donna è mobile.” With its powerful characters and dramatic depth, Rigoletto remains one of the pinnacles of Italian opera.
This production, returning to Lausanne after twenty years, features an inventive and poetic staging by Richard Brunel, set within a ballet company, blending opera and dance. The Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne will be conducted for the first time by Giulio Cilona.
