L’Italiana in Algeri

Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri arrives at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, a dramma giocoso in two acts with a libretto by Angelo Anelli, first performed in Venice in Protected content now receiving its house premiere on 8 March Protected content .
The performance is conducted by Alessandro De Marchi, with a new staging by Rolando Villazón, bringing together stylistic clarity and theatrical energy for one of Rossini’s most sparkling early successes.
Written when the composer was barely twenty-one, L’Italiana in Algeri already displays the brilliance, rhythmic vitality, and comic precision that would define his career. It promises an evening shaped by elegance, wit, and musical exuberance.
