Samson Et Dalila
Dear all,
Saint-Saëns’ Samson et Dalila returns in a new production, bringing together one of the great French operatic scores with a remarkable cast. First performed in the late nineteenth century, the opera combines biblical grandeur with some of the most sensuous and memorable music in the repertoire.
The performance is conducted by Alexander Soddy and staged by Damián Szifron. Roberto Alagna sings the title role of Samson, alongside Aigul Akhmetshina as Dalila, a pairing that promises both dramatic intensity and vocal brilliance.
Samson et Dalila remains a fascinating work, balancing public spectacle with intimate psychological conflict. It should make for a compelling evening of French opera at its most elegant and dramatic.
