Une Expérience-Limite De La Lettre _ LARBI CHERKAOUI
L’Atelier 21 is pleased to present an exhibition of Larbi Cherkaoui, Une expérience-limite de la lettre. The exhibition will run from April 21 to May 23, Protected content .
For more than three decades, the artist has explored the Arabic letter as a visual form in its own right. In this body of work, the letter transforms: sometimes clearly affirmed in its calligraphic structure, sometimes multiplied into a multitude of signs or fragmented into dispersed elements, becoming rhythm, movement, and pictorial space.
Through these explorations, the artist pushes the limits of calligraphic language, turning the letter into a pictorial space where rhythm, balance, and contrast unfold.
Larbi Cherkaoui was born in Protected content Marrakech.
A painter and calligrapher, he has developed over more than three decades a distinctive practice exploring the plasticity of the Arabic letter, transforming it into a visual language oscillating between calligraphy and abstraction.
His works are included in numerous public and private collections, including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Tunis, the Dalloul Art Foundation (Beirut), the Museum of Archaeology of Silves (Portugal), the Fondation ONA (Morocco), Bank Al-Maghrib (Morocco), the Royal Mansour (Morocco) and La Mamounia (Morocco).
Larbi Cherkaoui lives and works in Marrakech.
