A Day in Amarante
For those who have not yet been to Amarante, it is one of the prettiest towns of northern Portugal, located abouy 50km east of Porto on the river Tâmega. The day will offer great photo opportunities.
We meet 10:00 at the main entrance to Campanhã train station (NOT the Metro station).
Then we will proceed to the Terminal Intermodal de Campanhã to catch the coach to Amarante
Departs at 10:25 and arrives at 11:10.
You need to buy your tickets in advance from Flixbus; you cannot buy tickets on the coach.

Please inform me when you have bought your ticket and send me your mobile number so I can add you to the WhatsApp group for the event.
Alternatively, if you have a car, you can drive to Amarante and meet us at the coach station.
From the coach station we will take a leasurely walk to the river, crossing by the picturesque Ponte de São Gonçalo. We will spend an hour or so exploring the town, before visiting the beautiful church of São Gonçalo.
Next we will walk along the north bank of the river, crossing by the dramatic stepping stones if the water is not to high. We will continue our walk along the south bank of the river for half an hour so, before returning to the town.
If there is time we will stop at a café for refreshment before returning to the coach station to catch the coach back to Porto.
Departs at 16:30 and arrives at 17:15
If the weather is bad, we will visit the Museu Municipal Amadeo de Souza instead of the river walk.
