Vienna’s leading chamber orchestra, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra “Orpheus”, will present three impressive New Year’s Eve concerts at the new Ioannis Despotopoulos Grand Hall of the Athens Conservatory on Thursday 1 and Friday 2 January, filled with the masterful waltzes and polkas of Johann Strauss, offering a unique festive experience.
The Vienna Chamber Orchestra “Orpheus” was founded by leading soloists of the Austrian capital with the aim of authentic interpretation of the Viennese waltz and polka, continuing the tradition of the city that gave birth to the Strauss family. Within a few years, it has established itself as one of the most dynamic and charming ensembles on the Viennese music scene, enchanting with the unique sound of its exceptional instruments.
Her repertoire includes the well-known works “The Blue Danube”, “Imperial Waltz”, “In the Vienna Woods”, “Voices of Spring” and others, which she presents in emblematic venues such as the Musikverein and St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, the Gasteig Carl Orff Saal in Munich, the Liederhalle in Stuttgart and the Brucknerhaus in Linz.
