A Scandalous August. 2 Melodramas for the Price of 1! Bargain...
'East Lynne' is a wrenching Victorian melodrama of love, jealousy, and tragic redemption. The fragrant Isabel - lady of the manor - is undone by the dastardly Captain Francis Levison - cad, bounder, and ebsolute rotter, abandoning her devoted husband Archibald and their child, only to return years later disguised as the humbled governess Madam Vine.
As gossip, betrayal, and political rivalries escalate, Isabel’s hidden presence in her former home forces a final, wrenching confrontation: will the longsuffering Archibald forgive her? Will the wicked Captain Levison get his comeuppance? And what exactly is the relationship between the sister and the maid?
You will boo, you will cry, there won't be a dry seat left in the house.
Adapted and directed by Internations Helsinki's very own Matthew Paines.
