Recovered: Witches, Monsters & Heroines

Dear monsters,

This Halloween, we’re going to the dark side of art.

Join us on Saturday, 31 October for an evening devoted to witches, monsters, heroines and the many ways women have been imagined, feared, desired and transformed in art.

We’ll begin at Kunsthalle Praha with Annette Messager’s Tragikomedie — an exhibition exploring the body, gender, identity, desire and the strange, sometimes unsettling worlds we create around them.

Rather than a formal workshop, this will be an exhibition visit with a few questions and ideas to guide our looking, followed by an informal discussion.

Then we’ll continue our Halloween night at a bar for cocktails.

Costumes are very much expected from each and every attendee. Come as a witch, monster, heroine, femme fatale, ghost, mythological woman, villain, muse — or any character or archetype you’d like to reinterpret.

This is your opportunity to let go, play with identity, and explore different aspects of your artistic self.

If you need help or ideas, reach out and we’ll figure something out together.
