Pablo Picasso y la Literatura
A little-known facet of the great artist Picasso.
Werner Meyer, curator of the exhibition "Pablo Picasso and the Literature", shows a selection of book illustrations by Pablo Picasso. On the one hand, one can see how the artist in his etchings and lithographs repeatedly brings another way of drawing into play. Usually he does not really illustrate the lyrics, but makes his own themes the subject of graphics: the painter and his model, faces and portraits, the grotesque, the female nude, objectivity and abstraction. On the other hand, the handwriting plays an essential role and Picasso knows about the peculiarities of the tradition of book illumination.
After the exhibition we can go an have a coffee down town to exchange impressions.
