Kenneth Anger Hour - Short Films
Protected content
We might have dinner after the movie, if more than 3 people.
This session celebrates the work of American avant-garde filmmaker Kenneth Anger, one of 20th-century cinema’s most notorious gossips. In Protected content , he published Hollywood Babylon, an infamous compendium of half-truths and hearsay drawn from early Hollywood. Blending fact, fiction and sensationalist slander, the book recounts affairs, mysterious deaths and alleged studio cover-ups involving the crème de la crème of the silent film industry. Long controversial for its lurid exaggerations and apocryphal lies, Anger’s salacious tome helped shape the mythology of Tinseltown’s dark, decadent underbelly.
This session presents a selection of Anger’s short films devoted to celebrity, desire and fantasy, including a love letter to silent-era film heroines (Puce moment) and the hypnotic biker fantasia Scorpio rising.
