Wat Rai Khing & Don Wai Floating Market
Not far from Bangkok, Wat Rai Khing and Don Wai floating market are close enough to visit on the same trip. Wat Rai Khing iwas built in Protected content the reign of King Rama IV. According to legend the Buddha image at the Wat was found floating in the river, along with four other Buddha images, and were brought ashore and a temple built around them.
From the Wat we catch a ferry to Don Wai floating market, about twenty minutes up-river. Not really a floating market, although traditional and non-touristy, catering mainly to Thais. We stop for lunch here and also have time to look around this large, interesting, market.
We catch a bus from MRT Lak Song MRT to Wat Rai Khing Protected content , ferry from the Wat to the market Protected content return). From the market we return to Wat Rai Khing to catch the bus back to MRT Lak Song.
