Let´s Visit Together: Ikonenmuseum Frankfurt
Dear Art Lover,
The first special exhibition at the Icon Museum since its reconfiguration honors the nearly 30-year collaboration between the museum and the Bode Museum in Berlin (Sculpture Collection and Museum of Byzantine Art). Set within the permanent exhibition, it presents selected icons from the post-Byzantine period from the Bode Museum’s collection, which had been on long-term loan to the Icon Museum in Frankfurt am Main since Protected content .
In this context, the finely crafted, mostly small-format icons of the Mother of God, scenes from the life and Passion of Jesus Christ, and selected saints—intended for private devotion—enter into a dialogue with the often church-originated icons permanently displayed in the exhibition space.
