Film Screening: A Talent for Murder

In Protected content , celebrated crime novelist Patricia Highsmith (Helen Mirren) has retreated to her chalet in the Swiss Alps. Long weary of the world and her readership, she now surrounds herself only with books, cats, and her beloved collection of antique weapons.

Her self-imposed solitude comes to an abrupt end when young editor Edward Ridgeway (Alden Ehrenreich) suddenly appears at her door. Acting on behalf of her New York publisher, he is tasked with persuading the eccentric American to write one final novel featuring her most famous character: con artist and murderer Tom Ripley.

Highsmith refuses. Unless, that is, Edward helps her devise the perfect murder. For this, she needs an inconspicuous, ordinary man like him – and the right weapon: a sharp knife, a pistol, or perhaps a pinch of arsenic?

What begins as Edward's visit to the reclusive novelist soon turns into a dangerous game of cat and mouse, forcing them both to question who is really pulling the strings.
