Urner Lake Magical hike (16km, 800m elevation gain, 5hrs) & more
Looks like another gorgeous Saturday and time to organize another blockbuster day. Read until the end before signing up.
We will kick off the day with one of my favourite lake hikes in Switzerland, the Urner lake. Starting in Brunnen we will swiftly move uphill (total of 800m elevation gain) enjoying majestically views before meandering down towards Sisikon.
From there we will continue alongside the lake until we reach Flüelen. The hiking part will take 5 hours during which we will cover 16km. We need to go at a steady pace in order to catch the boat in Flüelen. Our lunch break will be on the boat. You can order small snacks on the boat but I recommend to bring your own lunch. In case hunger creeps in before 2pm, bring along some light snacks that you can eat while walking.
The cruise from Flüelen to Vitznau will last almost 2 hours during which you can chill and enjoy the views. Once we arrive in Vitznau we take the train up to Rigi Kaltbad Protected content where the chilling for another 2 hours continues.
From there we will have a short but amazing Gondola ride to Weggis where we will catch another boat to Luzern.
Luzern awaits us with the Blue ball festival (all infos here: Protected content . To access the general festival with some free music concerts a PIN for 20 CHF is required that we can buy on site. In case you are tempted to buy concert ticket feel free to do so via the link above.
Once we reach Luzern the internations event is officially over but obviously we will try to stay together as a group (if possible). Hopefully there are some available lockers at the train station to deposit our hiking gear.
Please only sign up if you will join for the whole day (incl. trip to Luzern). If you have other evening plans then please leave the spot for someone else.
This event takes place in any kind of weather and I count on you that you join for sure once you sign up, since I need to make numerous train and boat reservations. You still need to buy your own transport tickets. I highly recommend that you purchase a day saver pass as soon as possible.
Caution: I consider this a fairly moderate hike but if you are not used to hiking in hot temperatures and/or go rather slowly uphill, then please do not join this hike/event since we need to move at a very steady pace for 5 hours straight.
