Alpine hike up Druesberg and Forstberg
This hike in large part follows Alpine (T4) hiking routes. It is only suitable for those sure-footed, fit and without vertigo. Please read the full description before signing up. If you don't know what T4 means, you probably should not sign up.
On the photo (taken in May be myself) you see Forstberg from south side which real climbers may be able to ascent, we won't :-). We will ascent the 'easier' north side.
The Druesberg and Forstberg tower high above the Muotathal with their near vertical wall on the south side. I first saw them from the Muotathal side when hiking the Pragelpassweg in April and was impressed. Therefore I would like to return and you can come along. The path however will be challenging and not for the faint-hearted.
From the bus stop we immediately start with an alpine grade route, which among other adventures includes a 10m near-vertical ladder. Arriving at Protected content we continue with an easy path for a bit and potentially have time for a coffee at the Druesberghütte. Those who already had enough adventure (or lag to far behind to make the last cable car down at the end) can take a kick scooter down from here :-P.
We then continue an easy path which gradually gets more difficult (T4) upon approaching Druesberglücke Protected content , the last section being a scree field. That leaves some 172m of climbing left to reach Druesberg Protected content where we can have lunch and enjoy the magnificent view over the Gämsstafel and the Muotathal and the whole Alps chain from the Glärnisch Massiv in the east over south to the Aletschorn in the southeast.
We will then decent back to Druesberglücke and climb up the other side to Forstberg and continue (more alpine T4 route) along the ridge all the way to Chli Stärnen. There we can enjoy a coffee before we catch the gondola down.
Depending on how quickly we proceed, optionally we can extent from Chli Stärnen downwards, but we need to be sure to catch the bus. On the other hand, we may have deserved a beer by then ;-).

THE FITNESS AND DIFFICULTY LEVEL
For this exercise you should be very fit and be accustomed to hiking Alpine routes. If you don't fit that description, do not sign up.
There are no early busses to Hoch-Ybrig, so we can 'sleep in' this time :-P.
07:30 Meet at Protected content
07:43 S25 from platform 5
09:10 Arrival in Hoch-Ybrig, Talstation Weglosen and start of the hike
13:30 Druesberg and 30 minute lunch break
16:00 Chli Stärnen and gondola down
16:47 Bus from Talstation Weglosen
18:17 Arrival at Zürich HB
Because of the tricky alpine routes this hike will only continue in good weather conditions. If the weather is deemed insufficient I will come up with an less tricky alternative route in the same area.
Currently (2 August) the forecast for Hoch-Ybrig is:
23 degrees, sunshine but partially clouded, no rain expected, barely any wind
- Courage :-D
- Return ticket to "Hoch-Ybrig, Talst. Weglosen"
- Cash for coffee, the gondola and maybe a beer.
- Sturdy hiking boots
- Packed lunch
- Suitable clothing for the weather
- Sufficient drinking water for the whole day (no refill along the way!)
Hiking involves certain risks, by taking part in this event you acknowledge that these risks exist and are on your own account. This is a meeting of fellow hikers, not a guided tour.
