Dear hiking friends,

The Sihlwald is a nature reserve of national significance. To date, the Wildnispark Zurich Sihlwald was the first nature discovery park in Switzerland. It is situated in the heart of the Zurich metropolitan region and is easily accessible.

Nature discovery parks provide undisturbed habitats for animals and plants and allow visitors to discover nature at its unspoilt best. Such parks always consist of two zones: nature is allowed to develop freely in the core zone, while less stringent conservation rules in the transition zone enable visitors to discover nature and relax. The designation gives the Zimmerberg-Sihltal region and the canton of Zurich an internationally recognised seal of quality and, as a result, the Wildnispark Zurich Foundation receives important confederal contributions towards the park’s operation.

The nature reserve is a wonderful experience for all those who like to be out and about in the fresh air. On the walk, we will enjoy the diversity of the flora and fauna. On the way, there are picnic sites at which to stop and take a break.

This is an intermediate, 4.5 hour, 16km, 240m elevation hike where we start and finish at Sihlwald train station.

Don’t forget to wear your hiking shoes, bring some water and snacks with you, and take some protection from the sun.

Hope to see you on a sunny, but pleasant Sunday.
