Cycling App & Baby Gaps
This is a road bike cycling and helmets are mandatory.
a. Appalachian Gap is one of the standout climbs in the Vermont Six Gaps, connecting Waitsfield, Vermont to Lincoln, Vermont. This route is especially memorable for its scenic character, including stretches where waterfalls and forested terrain make the ascent feel immersive rather than purely punishing. The climb itself is demanding, with sustained gradients that peak around 18% and a total elevation gain of roughly 1,245 meters over a 90 km touring ride. It requires solid preparation and pacing, particularly for riders not used to extended climbs of this intensity. The effort pays off, though—the views and terrain changes make it one of the most rewarding sections of the ride. The full experience typically takes about 6 hours, including planned breaks, and a detailed route is provided to participants. Overall, it’s a challenging but highly scenic ride that balances physical effort with strong visual payoff.
