Carmen Laffón: the Landscape of a Life
This wonderful summer, let us take refuge in the museum with Carmen Laffón.
She was an undisputed master of figurative art and realism in a century dominated by abstraction, capturing—with exquisite sensitivity—the light, the Andalusian landscape, and the intimacy of everyday life.
She played a pivotal role in the movement of material and magical realism, capturing quiet atmospheres and ordinary objects with a highly distinctive style. She dedicated much of her work to immortalizing the landscape of the Lower Guadalquivir, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and the Coto de Doñana; she became a visual icon of the region and was the second woman to be inducted as a full member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando.

Afterward, we'll go to a nearby bar for drinks, tapas, and to discuss our experiences with the tertulia and socialize.
Since we’ll be finishing at 2:00 PM, please send me a confirmation message if you’d like to go for lunch afterwards, so I can book a table if we have a good-sized group.
