AURÈLIA MUÑOZ. ENTES
With this exhibition, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía commemorates the centenary of Aurèlia Muñoz’s birth, surveying five decades of her creative universe through more than Protected content , many of which have never been shown before.
She transformed thread and fiber work into genuine three-dimensional sculptures that floated in space, successfully breaking down the traditional barrier between craft and fine art.
She participated in the prestigious Lausanne Tapestry Biennials and managed to project her work internationally during the Franco regime.
She championed ancestral techniques (such as macramé) as a language of high-level contemporary artistic creation, challenging the bias that dismissed them as mere "women's work."

It is a self-guided activity; we do not tour the museum as a group, though you may purchase an audio guide if you wish.
Afterward, we'll go to a nearby bar for drinks, tapas, and to discuss our experiences with the tertulia and socialize.
