Bancha March presents Thomas Houseago, one of the most prominent and influential contemporary sculptors, recognized for his ability to revitalize the human figure through monumental works that blend archaic power with psychological vulnerability.
He has revitalized monumental sculpture by reviving the use of traditional materials to create colossal, totemic figures that engage in a dialogue with the great traditions of art history—spanning from Classical Antiquity and Michelangelo’s *non finito* technique to the modern masters. His works deliberately reveal the traces of their construction process, lending his gigantic sculptures a presence that is at once powerful and deeply vulnerable.
