Join me for a lazy Saturday morning in South Melbourne where we'll hunt through the market for a delectable breakfast of fresh pies and croissants, grab a cuppa and stroll through heritage streets for an artsy finale at the Australian Tapestry Workshop, the only workshop of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and one of just a few in the world.
A free guided tour through the workshop will take us through their world-renowned studio, where contemporary tapestries are crafted in close collaboration with leading artists, designers, and architects.
We'll also explore,
🧶 the Workshop floor, where tapestries progress on the loom;
👩🎨 the Residence spaces for Artists' work;
🎨🧪 on-site Colour Laboratory, where specialised chemists create custom-dyed yarns for their master weavers;
🖼 gallery spaces showcasing rotating exhibitions of contemporary art.
