Photo Exhibition Bizarre Reality

Life in Lviv, Ukraine, goes on – despite a war that is ever-present. People work, meet in cafés, ride crowded trams. At first glance, everything seems almost normal. But beneath this apparent normality lies another reality: nightly air raid sirens that tear through sleep, constant worry about loved ones, unspoken fears. And yet – or perhaps because of this – people cling to their routines. Because normality is not just a desire, but a survival instinct.
The photo project Bizarre Normality Protected content by Hans Hugo Hoffmann captures this fragile balance. It documents artists and cultural workers in Lviv, portraying them in their homes and studios to explore a central question: What does “normality” look like in the midst of war? Is it even possible?
