While walking through the Tuscan countryside, a school janitor (Massimo Troisi) and a teacher (Roberto Benigni) find themselves inexplicably hurled Protected content back in time, to the age of Leonardo da Vinci and Christopher Columbus. A remarkable success, the film offers a satirical and grotesquely comic reinterpretation of history. The chemistry between the two legendary comedians has never been stronger, with affectionate tributes to Totò (including the famous letter to Savonarola) and unforgettable lines such as: “Remember, you must die,” a friar solemnly warns the bewildered Troisi, who replies, “Yeah, yeah… I’ll make a note of it. Don’t worry.”
