Lady Lucie Galvaillan a hérité de ses cinq premiers maris, après les avoir assassinés. Le colonel John Mc Lesby, grand amateur de riches héritières, en est à son sixième veuvage.
L’inspecteur Peter Campbell de Scotland Yard, las de chercher des preuves, les fait alors se rencontrer pour le meilleur, mais surtout pour le pire !
Attirés par leur fortune respective, les deux protagonistes se marient et n’auront de cesse d’élaborer des plans les plus machiavéliques et plus cocasses les uns que les autres pour s’éliminer l’un l’autre, pour le plus grand plaisir des spectateurs.

Lucie is a rich and happy widow of several gentlemen whom she kindly helped to meet their doom. Her next victim is a widower named John with a situation not unlike hers. The newlyweds develop a strange relationship from day one where they both attempt murder on each other. Scotland yard officer Campbell takes an interest in the case.
