Film Festival Screening: “El Maestro”

Come enjoy an evening on the lawn with friends. Bring your food, wine and blankets! The film starts at 6:30pm.
The screening will take place in West Main Green, adjacent to the Menil Drawing Institute at Protected content Main Street.
*Please note that in the event of inclement weather the screening will take place in the foyer of the Menil’s main building at Protected content Ross Street.
The West African Film Festival of Houston and the Menil Collection copresent an outdoor screening of El Maestro, Protected content . The French-language documentary film tells the story of the Afro-Cuban music singer Laba Sosseh ( Protected content ), who was born in the coastal West African country of The Gambia. Archival imagery and colorful interviews trace the journey of this atypical artist and musician, whose career as a “salsero” beginning in the Protected content took him to Dakar, Abidjan, and New York.
