Jazzfest Berlin 2025 - One Evening, 3 International Bands

Jazzfest is in the town again! Buy your ticket in advance! If you come later to the 2nd or 3rd concert of the evening it´s also okay!

This is the first evening of the festival and with one ticket you see and listen to 3 bands.

The Protected content of Jazzfest Berlin begins on the Main Stage of the Haus der Berliner Festspiele with a performance by the energetic alto saxophonist Angelika Niescier – an outstanding personality of German jazz from Cologne and her band.

After a short break the bassist Felix Henkelhausen is on the stage, whose music reflects extraordinary talent, vision and range. Tonight he presents his gritty septet Deranged Particles,a band that includes scene fixtures like vibraphonist Evi Filippou, keyboardist Elias Stemeseder and tenor saxophonist Philipp Gropper.

Closing out the action at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele is a rare duo performance by veteran trumpeter and composer Wadada Leo Smith and keyboardist and composer Vijay Iyer (!!), performing music from their recent album “Defiant Life”. The festival is honoured to present Smith, a bona fide legend who at 83 is in the midst of his final European tour!

We will hear a lot of improvisations during all concerts - a specialty of the 'Jazzfest', but also musicians you cannot see often in your life.
