Afterwork-Vinotheque-Evening: Kappeskerb & Harvest Festival

The last major folk festival in the Rheingau before the winter break.

The festival takes place every year in late October or early November and transforms the area from the station forecourt up to the Electoral Castle into a huge open-air wine bar, where the end of autumn is celebrated in style with wine, Federweißer, mulled wine and hearty delicacies from the estate’s autumnal kitchen. In the ‘Weinhohle’, a huge funfair with stalls and rides also attracts guests of all ages. The highlight of the Kerb – a tradition dating back over Protected content and named after the winter vegetable ‘Kappes’, the Rheingau dialect term for white cabbage – is the festive opening with the wine royalty on Friday evening and the splendid autumn closing parade of the Rheingau winegrowers on Saturday afternoon. There are also numerous live concerts, a craft market in the castle and plenty of special offers from local businesses.
