Since the weather forecast improved and a few of you were interested in a last-minute trip, shall we have a Swiss-Italian day trip to Poschiavo tomorrow?

Given the abundant snowfall, the landscape could be quite a treat, plus the weather forecast seems favourable for the afternoon. The idea is to have a part-sightseeing, part-hiking trip.

We'll take the 9:20 train from Milano Centrale to Tirano, where we'll have 90 minutes for visiting the town and its basilica. Depending on the weather, we can either go indoors and have lunch or walk up to the scenic church of S.Perpetua.

We'll then catch the 13:41 Tirano Protected content Le Prese train, that does the famous loop ( Protected content ) for gaining height.

From Le Prese, we'll do the 75 minute hike listed on:
Protected content

Return will be with the Poschiavo 17: Protected content 18:23 train, followed by Tirano 19:08- Milano 21:40.

What you need to buy:

the schedule may sound complicated, but it's actually pretty easy, ticket-wise, and inexpensive (less than 25 euro for the whole day). You basically need to buy 3 things:

- a 1-day IoViaggioInLombardia ticket (you can get it from the machines at any metro stop, it's 16,50 euro). This grants you unlimited transportation in Lombardia for the whole Saturday
- 13:41 Tirano Protected content Le Prese on (if you buy it online, you might be able to get it for half price (3,80 CHF)
- Poschiavo 17: Protected content 18:23 on (again, if you're lucky you can buy it for 6 CHF)
