Hiking and Carnival in Ticino, Part 3
The Swiss Carnival saga continues this weekend, and this time it's Chiasso's turn to throw a party.
There will be plenty of music and food, so once again the idea is to combine hiking and Carnival.
We'll start on Saturday morning, with a walk to the famous Morbio Junior High School, designed by architect Mario Botta and surrounded by woods. Walk should take about 1 hour.
At midday we'll see if we can grab a dish of Uri risotto for lunch ( Protected content ), then in the afternoon we'll move to Parco del Penz and try to reach the Dosso Pallanza lookout point and the southernmost point of Switzerland ( Protected content ).
At 4pm we'll be back to Chiasso, where we can wrap up the day with more Carnival parades and music.
For those who decide to stay overnight, the idea for Sunday is to meetup at Bodio station at 11:20 and continue our journey along the Leventina valley: our goal is to make it to the village of Giornico and discover its artistic heritage and Romanic churches, as well as the infamous mailbox, where postcards need more than one year to be delivered (!).
