Screening of the film "Toshkua" - In Search of Truth

According to government figures, more than 130,000 people are considered missing in Mexico. Behind every number lies a family that is searching, hoping, and continuing to fight to uncover the fate of their loved ones. Families are often vilified and threatened for their own efforts in the search. Migrants and people fleeing their homes face a particularly high risk of falling victim to enforced disappearance. International human rights organizations—including the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights—identify the forced recruitment of minors by organized crime groups as one of the causes of these disappearances.

To mark the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, we are screening the documentary film *Toshkua* (Spanish with English subtitles, Protected content . The film follows Mary, a Honduran woman, as she searches for her son, Marco Antonio Amador, who was abducted while traveling from Honduras to the USA. During her journey, she joins other mothers in Mexico who are also searching for their children. Meanwhile, Francisco—an elder of the indigenous Pesh community in Honduras—confronts the destruction of the tropical rainforest, the displacement of his people, the emigration of his children, and the disappearance of his own language. Both fight against disappearance in their own ways.
