We will spend a long summer weekend in one of the most beautiful cities of the Netherlands which is Rotterdam. Located in the province of South Holland, at the confluence of the Rotte and the Nieuwe Maas, it's the country's second largest city and is well known for its impressive maritime harbour, the biggest and most busy in Europe. Rotterdam's harbour owes its growth to the colonial past of the Netherlands and, among others, the foundation of the maritime company of Dutch East Indies at the end of the 17th century. It is nowadays one of the world's top harbour places and greatest hubs for international trade.
Not only famous due to its harbour, Rotterdam is worth a visit through its museums, as well as its modern architecture of which the Cube House and the Erasmus Bridge are among the most obvious expressions. Besides, the city had been branded European Capital of Culture in Protected content . Protected content
