A Summer Trip to Helsinki
We'll spend a summer weekend in Helsinki, the capital of Finnland. Located on the Baltic Sea, it's the country's main administrative and economic center with one of the busiest harbours of Scandinavia. Thanks to its location in the very South of Finnland, Helsinki beneficiates of a mild climate during the summer period and has become a popular destination for travelers in search of cooler places.
Helsinki captivates through its architecture, its history and the cultural aspect. It has a beautiful old town, with different churches and monuments such as the Senate building. Among other places of interest, the quarter „Kallio“ is known for being Helsinki's most authentic area, with many cafes, traditional restaurants, theatres, vintage shops and flea markets. Aside from this, it seems obvious to mention the amount of museums so suitable to the rainy days, and of course the Saunas, pillar of the Finnish national culture.
Not only the city for itself, also its surroundings are worth a visit, especially the islands nearby that can be easily reached by boat and are suitable for a day trip - Suomenlinna Sveaborg and its fortress, to name one of them.
Suggestions of flights, accomodations and itinerary will follow.
Everyone will book his flights individually.
