Day Trip to the Mosel: Cochem and Reichsburg / Optional Koblenz
On a midsummer Saturday, we'll visit the charming town of Cochem with its iconic Reichsburg, the Imperial Castle, that magestically towers on a hill above the river Mosel. This medieval castle, assumed to have been built at the beginning of the 11th century, is nowadays said to be the biggest one in the Mosel valley.
Guided visits are offered for those interested in the profound history of the castle, but everyone is free to admire it from outside and just explore the beautiful surroundings. And obviously, a walk through Cochem old town with its narrow streets, colourful houses and cafes is a must-do.
From the lower town, you can walk up to the castle or alternatively go by shuttle bus.
Details regarding the transportation and exact meeting point and time will be shared a few days in advance.

Depending on time and weather, we can complete our day with a stopover in Koblenz, where Mother Mosel meets Father Rhine. Among places worth a visit, Koblenz boasts the fortress Ehrenbreitstein (accessible per cable car) and the wine museum Weindorf.
