Day Trip to the Mosel: Cochem and Reichsburg Castle
On Germany's National Day, we'll visit the charming town of Cochem with its iconic Reichsburg, the Imperial Castle, that magestically towers on a hill above the river Mosel. This medieval castle, assumed to have been built at the beginning of the 11th century, is nowadays said to be the biggest one in the Mosel valley.
Guided visits are offered for those interested in the profound history of the castle, but everyone is free to admire it from outside and just explore the beautiful surroundings. And obviously, a walk through Cochem old town with its narrow streets, colourful houses and cafes is a must-do.
From the lower town, you can walk up to the castle or alternatively go by shuttle bus.
Details regarding the transportation and exact meeting point and time will be shared a few days before the event.
