2025 Scheveningen End of Year Hike

Although many of you may use the season holidays to visit families and friends I will stay around town and finish the 2-weekly hiking events of Protected content a last one around town. Good to process the laziness of the Christmas holidays and talk to each one more time before the new year. The hike will start mid morning and is based on the idea of 2 hours hike, 1 hour lunch and 2 hours hike again.

This route was created by the creators of the "Trage Tochten" (Slow Walks); nature walks with an 80% sand path guarantee. Under the name “Stads Trage Tochten” (City Slow Walks), they take us through as much natural area as possible in the city. The 80% sand path guarantee we will not get but will mostly walk along paved paths away from city traffic.

The route takes us first to Westbroekpark and then through the Scheveningse Bosjes, past Sorgvliet Park and along parks at Segbroeklaan to the Bosjes van Pex,.There we can enjoy lunch in the family and friends restaurant Pex.

After lunch, we'll walk into the Westduin area and head northeast through the dunes to Scheveningen harbor. If the weather is clear, we can climb the extra 23m to the highest dune in this area, De Vulkaan.

If desired, we can conclude the walk and the year together with a drink, at a spot by the harbor or on the North Sea beach before everyone makes their way home, perhaps by tram 11.
