Let´s Visit Together: Bad Homburg Castle
Dear history and art lovers,
The new permanent exhibition, “244ff. From Friedrich to Ferdinand,” in the historic library of Bad Homburg Palace invites visitors to discover the world of the Landgraves of Hesse.
The exhibits trace the history of the dynasty from the first ruler of the Landgraviate of Hesse-Homburg to its last representative. A collateral branch of the House of Hesse, the dynasty initially ruled a small territory established out of financial necessity. The Landgraviate existed from Protected content 1866, gaining full sovereignty only towards the end of its history.
The State Palaces and Gardens of Hesse preserve thousands of objects from this Protected content period. The exhibition brings together a selection of these fascinating items, many of which offer personal glimpses into the lives of their former owners. Together, they tell stories of everyday life, court culture and the exercise of power.
There is more to see for sure!
Looking forward to seeing you.
