InterNations — A Community for American Expats in Asunción

Hello to all Americans in Asunción! Are you interested in getting to know fellow expats in Asunción? Looking for advice from other Americans, e.g. wondering if there are any bars in Asunción which will be showing your favorite baseball or American football team’s upcoming match or where to go in town for st■ turkey?

There’s no doubt about it: Asunción is a city of contrasts, from fancy shopping malls and heavy traffic to simple, colonial buildings and green spaces. The capital of Paraguay is a port city known for its economic importance in the country, the sprawling Mercado Municipal market, an abundance of tasty food in retro restaurants, and much more! With the available taxis and an extensive city bus network, navigating your way around the city from one place to the next is simple. This also means that if you don’t want to live among the hustle and bustle of the center, you can enjoy a quieter life in neighborhoods such as Villa Morra, Carmelitas, or Los Laureles, for example, which are less than ten kilometers away from Asunción’s center.

Although Asunción has lots to offer, you might be wondering where and how you can meet other Americans in the city. Luckily, InterNations is here to make this easier for you! You’re warmly invited to join the InterNations community. Within our international network in Asunción, there’s a vibrant circle of American expats from all regions of USA, including New York City, Los Angeles, and beyond.

Thanks Ralph for your insight. It is greatly appreciated. My age prevents me from experimenting. Your opinion is valued. The lake does look wonderful. San Bernardino seems quaint and pleasant.
