Coming to Town for Holiday (Bangkok)

Hello All,

I arrive in Bangkok this Friday for a small 5 day vacay. This is my first time travelling alone for a vacation so I'm a bit nervous and excited. While in Thailand I was thinking of doing 3 nights in BKK and 2 on one of the islands.

Any recs on what island to go to? And transportation from BKK with a suitcase?

I don't drink, but I love music, dancing, shopping and outdoor activities. Are there any cool events happening the weekend of the 22nd? Also if anyone is willing to meetup that would be great too!
