Moving to Thailand in August (Bangkok)

Hi, my girlfriend and I are moving to Thailand in August to start new jobs teaching in a new school that is opening in the Chonburi area.

Are there many expats living in this area? I see that Pattaya is nearer to the area than Bangkok. We have accommodation on site at the new school so do not have to worry about housing. We are looking to meet and socialise with people as soon as we get out there and wondered if there are many social events/sports groups etc in the area?

Any feedback/advice on the area would be welcomed.
