Justifiably expensive ? (Basel)

Why so expensive to eat and drink in Basel ? Prestige ? hardly.... Taxes ? maybe... Just a bubble filled with folks living in bubbles...more than likely.
Plenty of money around, granted, but still not justifiable in my book....
Anyone else feel the same ??

Think of how much money some people have to survive on for a week, then spend double that on a vodka and cranberry ??....
