Standing with our Muslim Neighbours:
An Interfaith Solidarity, Peace and Unity Rally
Saturday, June 24 ❀ 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Calgary City Hall Plaza

In Protected content number of reported anti-Muslim incidents in Canada had increased by 60%. This is before Trump’s election blew fresh life into white supremacy and Islamophobia. We witnessed the murder of Muslim men at prayer in Quebec and in Calgary, we have seen Islamophobic rallies that have become increasingly vicious in their rhetoric and hate--incitement that has led to acts of racist violence. Make no mistake, Islamophobia is well organized and a danger not only to the Muslim community but to all of us.

Join Calgarians of all faiths as we stand together in common humanity to oppose racism and hate and affirm the values of acceptance, peace, justice, and neighbourly care.

Hear speakers from different faith traditions, music from the 30-voice Interfaith Community Sound peace choir, and the politically engaged songs of the Raging Grannies, a special song by musician Greg O’Neill, and a circle folk dance with Ronnie Leah.

This event is organized by members of Calgary Anti-Oppression Network as a community effort to oppose the escalating Islamophobia and anti-refugee demonstrations of hate we've witnessed in our public spaces.
