At InterNations, we’re dedicated to making expat life a great experience! With more than 4.1 million members in 420 cities, InterNations is the biggest global community for expats. We offer regular local events, interest-based groups, and useful information to help our members feel at home abroad. What started as an idea over ten years ago is now changing the lives of expats and global minds around the world every day. With team members from around 50 countries, we believe in the benefits of cultural exchange and the power of bringing people together. Together we’re constantly growing, learning, and coming up with new ways for our members to meet other international people and enjoy life abroad.

Meet the team
Engineering & Operations
Our Engineering Department consists of both frontend and backend developers, who architect, develop, and test new features for our platform. They carry out short iterations in an agile scrum environment, aiming to ship and release new features as fast and as early as possible. Our Operations Department makes sure that we have the server infrastructure in place to provide a stable website performance and that all the tools and equipment necessary for our daily work function properly.
As the bridge between business strategy and software development, our Product Management Department defines our product roadmap and develops new ideas from concept to specification. They are responsible for identifying the needs of our target group, developing new features and carrying out user tests. They also ensure the visual quality and the functionality of all new features.
Our Community Experience Department is responsible for supporting our volunteers around the world as they organize and host events in our 420 InterNations Communities. This includes our Changemakers and all related activities. Community Experience also provides member support, and takes quality assurance measures to maintain the high quality of our website and events.
Content & Communications
Content & Communications guards and promotes the InterNations brand — not just with words, but also with engaging videos created by our in-house videographer. Our sharp-eyed editors are responsible for all written materials, the Social Media Team keeps our followers up to date and entertained, and the PR Team charms the international media to spread the word about InterNations.
Our Online Marketing Department is responsible for growing our member base. The team makes sure that all expats looking for information online can find us and become part of our community. They run marketing campaigns on major online platforms such as Facebook and Google, and reach out to other great websites for potential cooperations.
Our Corporate Partnerships Department is responsible for managing and expanding our network of local and global advertising partners. Based on our members’ needs and interests, they identify and cooperate with companies that can offer useful services and tailored solutions to our members.
Our team members in Human Resources, Finance & Business Intelligence, and our Feel Good Manager are vital to making sure that InterNations runs smoothly. This includes managing the recruitment process, organizing opportunities for personal development, and enabling a data-driven approach to business.

The InterNations Guiding Principles are practical guidelines that represent our core values and shape our interactions with each other and our members. They are reflected in our attitude towards work and our communication.
Embrace differences (Diversity)Differences not only make life interesting, they are the keys to keeping a team or community dynamic. The ability to think critically and produce the best results is fueled not least of all by a variety of perspectives, opinions, and experiences.
Listen and say what you mean (Open Communication)The best indication of mutual respect is that we are able to communicate with each other effectively. First: speak openly and honestly, express yourself respectfully, and mean what you say. Don’t talk behind someone’s back; address him or her directly. Second, always have an open ear. Listen intently to the feedback, needs, and concerns of others. Third, respond to and acknowledge those communicating with you. Show that you are listening by giving everyone the benefit of an answer.
Nobody stands alone (Helpfulness)Being part of a team or community means being willing to help others. Lend a hand. Be forthcoming. Build your own community by taking the time to support others.
The ball’s in your court (Responsibility)Take ownership and get involved. Interact with those around you and be responsible for not just yourself, but for those around you, as well. Reach out and find passion by getting involved. Any community is what you make of it.

Be your own role model: inspire others around you by making yourself the colleague /employee/ sponsor/ friend/ etc. that you want to be. Prompt others to pursue the same goal.

Internships at InterNations
As well as permanent roles, many departments also offer placements for students who have to complete an internship as part of their degree.
