When first moving to Washington, D.C., I didn't know many people outside of the office. InterNations has changed that with some exciting events.
Living in Fort Collins
Fort Collins is situated over 1,500m above sea level, at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Expatriates moving to Fort Collins can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, climbing and other mountain pursuits, taking in landmarks such as the Horsetooth Mountain and the Horsetooth Reservoir; which are named after a tooth-shaped granite rock that is dominating the skyline. Expats living in Fort Collins can also enjoy the historic Old Town; a beautiful place with many shops and restaurants, and an outdoor mall set among historic buildings. Fort Collins is the home of FortZED; one of the world’s largest zero energy districts that encompasses the main campus of Colorado State University. Much of the city’s culture revolves around the student population, with live music and microbreweries taking center stage. Expatriates living in Fort Collins may like to attend the Colorado Brewer’s Festival, held each June, and can discuss which breweries are worth visiting by connecting with other expats through the forums and discussion groups on InterNations.

Moving to Fort Collins
Fort Collins has been in the top ten of Money Magazine’s ‘Best Places to Live in the United States’ three times between 2006 and 2010. The reasons stated for this accolade have been great schools, a low crime rate, good jobs in a high-tech economy and a fantastic outdoor life. The city has also been named as one of the ten best places to retire in America. Fort Collins is known as the ‘Choice City’ as it offers so many options for things to do, places to study and work. As an expatriate you can explore this multitude of choices by connecting with expats living in Fort Collins on the discussion groups and forums on InterNations. Here, expatriates can also find essential information on topics such as apartments, housing and even storage facilities.
