I was so lucky that a friend told me about InterNations before I came to Bogota. I had the chance to contact many expats there from home.

InterNations — A Community for American Expats in Medellin

Hello to all Americans in Medellin! Are you interested in getting to know fellow expats in Medellin? Looking for advice from other Americans, e.g. wondering if there are any bars in Medellin which will be showing your favorite baseball or American football team’s upcoming match or where to go in town for st■ turkey?

There’s no doubt about it: Medellin has the potential to surprise you. The second-largest Colombian city is a bustling city known for its high-rise cityscape set amid green hills and dramatic peaks, its textile and flower industry, the famous Alumbrados Christmas lights, and much more! With the public transportation network including bus, metro, and hanging cable car services, navigating your way around the city from one place to the next is simple. This also means that if you don’t want to live among the hustle and bustle of the center, you can enjoy a quieter life in some of the municipalities to the south, such as Sabaneta or Envigado, which are up to a 30-minute train ride away from Medellin’s center.

Although Medellin has lots to offer, you might be wondering where and how you can meet other Americans in the city. Luckily, InterNations is here to make this easier for you! You’re warmly invited to join the InterNations community. Within our international network in Medellin, there’s a vibrant circle of American expats from all regions of USA, including New York City, Los Angeles, and beyond.

I was a little bit afraid before moving to Colombia - a new language, security issues, no friends. InterNations helped me settle in, though.
